Okay, so before I get into this post… I kind of want to go over the layout of our house. Our house has a separate room – a formal dining room and then also a dining area right off of the kitchen. Well, since it’s just Tom and I, we didn’t really need/want a “formal” dining room. So we decided to turn that room into a library/office and just have our dining table right off of the kitchen, which actually works out great 🙂 But what do you call that? A dining room or a dining area? LOL It’s not really a room, so… haha.
Any who, I did a post last July about being on a hunt for a dining table. Well that hunt ended first week of August! We found this amazing cottage style table at Shopko on CLEARANCE! Guess how much!?…… $60.00! I know right!? You can’t find this table anywhere (even online) for that price! We just had to get it! It’s pretty much what I wanted… I know in my last post I wanted a “white” table. Well that quickly changed once I saw the table in person at Pier 1. It wasn’t as pretty, plus the chairs I really wanted wouldn’t have matched it lol.
Without further a do… here’s what it looks like.
The table is two-toned. Cherry wood finish on top and black finish on the legs. I really love the cherry wood finish for it matches a lot of our furniture (living room) so it has “that flow” throughout the house. And with it having black legs, it made it really easy to match with whatever chairs we wanted.
Our table looks pretty similar to this one from Overstock, which runs for over $400.00!
This is the one we almost bought too! haha, good thing we didn’t…
A couple weeks after we got our table, we ordered our dining chairs. We did a lot of research before buying this one. There were so many of the same style so we pretty much just went with the one that has the best reviews ♥
The chairs are by Christopher Knight Home and it is the Crown Fabric off-white Dining Chairs. I absolutely love these chairs! They were easy to put together (did them myself ^-^) and goodness, they are so comfortable!
As a centerpiece for our table, I picked up these faux hydrangeas from Michaels ($8) along with a clear vase ($7.99). I think it looks so cute! I also added some clear beads since I had some left over – I think it adds a bit of something hehe.
I’m really happy with how everything turned out. ♥
Our kitchen/dining room is seriously my favorite room in the house at the moment. I just love it! Anyways, we’re still not done with this room… we need a couple more things – the walls are looking pretty bare so I’m on a look out for some kitchen/dining room art 🙂 So I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll see you guys on my next post! xoxo

You sure have a talent when it comes to interior designing! I love the outcome of your dining area — especially the chair and hydrangeas! What a total steal too! You saved a lot from the $400 table because it really looks the same.

This looks lovely! Envy you for making all the wife duties designing your own house. We live in a condo here in Malaysia its quite big than the usual condo space though the designing is very limited as we’re still thinking if we’re gonna buy this. then so I can start designing! God Bless babe!! Stay humble! x0x0 =)

I really adore your dining room/area! I once dreamed of having a white themed dining room. Since I have a toddler, it would be difficult to maintain. If ever my husband and I get ourselves our own house, I’d definitely have a dining room/area just like this! My son would be school-age by then so it wouldn’t be difficult to maintain anymore. You’re so lucky to get your table at $60! It’s good that you didn’t buy the $400-table! You saved a whole lot! The chairs are divine! I really love ’em!
