Production is key ♥ Give what your subscribers want. YouTube has this “Analytics” page and there it will show you what video is most watched, etc. That way you can see what they like and maybe make videos along that topic. Also video quality is a big thing but I’ll talk about that later.
Another way to get subscribers is if you have friends on FaceBook or Twitter, ask them to maybe share your videos. :) Doing swaps with other gurus or collab giveaways is another way. But only do it with close friends for sometimes it just seems like you’re doing “collab giveaways” just for subbies (it’s like bribing which I think is a no-no).
» Tips on camera and lighting?
Obviously, DSLR is a way to go. But if you’re just starting out, a digital camera or even a webcam is okay. Just make sure it’s HD (720p, at least!) and that you have good lighting. Lighting is everything in my opinion! I usually use just natural lighting so I film in the morning sitting in front of the window :) If you’re using a lamp make sure that the bulb you have is the natural one (blue instead of “yellow”).
» How often should I upload?
I suggest uploading every other day at the most. You don’t want people getting sick of you and/or don’t want them missing you too much :) For me I try to upload every other day during the week and take the weekend off. hehe
