Hi everyone! I love circle lenses ~ as some of you probably already know, though I don’t wear ‘em everyday (maybe once or twice a week). But any who, I always get asked about them.. so in this video I will show you guys how I store them and also, how to open those awful vial bottles (LOLL!) They are a pain in the butt but I have finally mastered it bwahahaha.
Before I share some tips, I want to point out that: Circle lens aren’t bad for you and won’t hurt your eyes if you take care of them. Circle lens’ shelf time is for 3 years (if taken care of correctly). Also, since circle lens are not prescribed by an eye doctor? and with that said, it’s? not correctly measure to match the “size” of your eyes and such; you’re not suppose to wear them for longer than 6-8hrs.
From ABC News:
Circle contact lenses are being sold illegally in the U.S. — which doctors say could be dangerous for those who wear them. Like any contact lens, prolonged wear can lead to infections that, although rare, can be serious, experts said. If the contacts don’t fit properly — too tight or too loose — they can scratch the cornea, which can cause vision problems.
“There’s literally that potential for someone to lose their vision within 24 hours and that’s from infection,” Dr. Assumpta Madu.
The colored contacts cover a portion of the whites of the eyes, making the pupils appear larger. It’s illegal to sell the non-FDA-approved lenses in the United States, but they’re readily available for less than $20 on the Internet. Because they’re illegal to sell, there’s relatively little regulation to ensure the contacts are made safely.
My experience: So far so good! When I get circle lens, I don’t any them with any “power,” I get them in “PLANO” or “0 power” for I don’t need prescriptions. Though I do find some lens to be annoying and uncomfortable for not all circle lens will match the base curve of your eyes (so if you want, you can go see your optometrist to find out your base curve before ordering your lens) -usually when you order your lens you can see the base curve of it on the site.
Another thing you can do, to prevent it from feeling uncomfortable, rinse it out first with a multi-purpose to ensure that there are no germs on it before putting it in your eye. Also, I only buy circle lens on actual websites! No personal bloggers/blogspot etc for me (see where I get my lens at the end of this post). You really gotta be careful when purchasing them :)
Also, I take good care of my lens so.. so far, I haven’t really had any problems with them. Like I stated already, I don’t wear them everyday and I don’t wear them for longer than 6 sometimes 8 hours.
How I store my lens
1. Fill up your lens case half way (where your lens can be under the solution).
2. Clean your lens by putting it on your palm and putting 2 or 3 drops of solution on it, as if you are washing it. This will help remove germs.
4. Place your contact lens into contact lens’ case.
5. Later, after you wear the contact lens, throw away the solution in the case and replace it with fresh solution before your store your lens again
(how your lens should be in its case)
